Since when are you doing triathlon?
2016

How did you start with triathlon? What is your history with sports?
After I finished swimming in 2012 I thought I was done with professional sports. After a few years I did a triathlon just for fun without really preparing for it. It went better than expected so I kept up some training with the goal to finish an Ironman. Beside that I was swimming together with Lothar Leder when I was 12 years, so I always been interested in triathlon.

What do you especially like about this sport?
After just swimming for more than two decades it’s a nice change to train for three sports instead for just one.

Achievements:
Ironman 70.3 Champion

Favourite discipline: Running
Favourite race: Ironman NZ

Since when are you doing triathlon?
12 years old

How did you start with triathlon? What is your history with sports?
I started triathlon because I was getting fat when I was younger so my older brother who was in to it took me out on some runs. I then started to do teams events and in Highschool started competing individually in Triathlon, duathlon and Multisports. I then studied Chemical and Material Engineering at Auckland Uni and during that time I won the 20-24 world long distance champs when I had just turned 20 so I finished my degree then turned pro. My first pro year in 2012 was not great as I was hit off my bike by a car at the Strat of the season and it took 10months to get over the injury/surgery. 2013-14 I mostly raced the non-drafting OLY races in the USA then moved to 70.3 and finally Ironman.

What do you especially like about this sport?
I like that you get to stay fit and healthy and challenge yourself. Plus travel the world to beautiful places and meet lots of new people.

Achievements:

  • 1x70.3 win
  • 4x 70.4 podiums
  • 16th world 70.3 champs 2016

  • 4th IM Aus 2019
  • 5th and 6th IMNZ 2017/2019
  • 2x8th at Regional IM championships (Ironman PB 8.16, 70.3 PB 3.44)
